Pilchuck Glass School // Stanwood, Washington
Last month I had the amazing opportunity to return to the Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, WA to take a two week workshop about incorporating imagery into fused glass with the amazingly talented and generous Jeffrey Sarmiento. Little known fact about me, I was actually a glass major in art school and I have been working with glass since 1998. I have been to Pilchuck two other times, in 1999 and 2003, and it was such an extraordinary experience to be back there after so much time away, especially as an avenue to finally combining my passion for photography with my love of glass. Nothing had changed, and that was awesome. Basically summer camp for glass artists, it's a beautiful and inspiring place. I took a few film shots with my new Fuji GF670, but the days were really packed and I regret not taking more portraits of all the people there. Next time.
